Sam Simmons wins Best Comedy Show at the 2015 Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Awards


Sam Simmons has won big at the 2015 Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Awards

The Australian comic was awarded Best Comedy Show for 'Spaghetti for Breakfast', beating the likes of Sarah Kendall and Nish Kumar to the prize.



James Acaster, Joseph Morpurgo, Kieran Hodgson, Seymour Mace and Trygve Wakenshaw were also nominated for the award.

Speaking of Simmons' win, Producer of the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Awards Nica Burns said: "Sam Simmons has funny bones. He is a complete original, combining physical comedy with great verbal jokes and a unique take on life. 

"His 2015 Edinburgh show is outstanding. This is a comedian at the top of his craft who has grown substantially since his two earlier nominations."



The Best Newcomer prize went to Sofie Hagen for her stand-up act 'Bubblewrap', beating out competition from Adam Hess, Daphne do Edinburgh and Larry Dean.

The Story Beast, Tom Ballard and Tom Parry were also finalists in the newcomer category. 

The Foster's Panel Prize was awarded to Karen Koren, the founder and artistic director of the Gilded Balloon, founder of comedy competition 'So You Think You're Funny?' and a supporter of new comedy talent.

The winners and nominees can be seen at the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Awards Show today (August 30) at 3.30pm and 5pm at The Grand, Pleasance Courtyard.
