Kendrick Lamar likens Reading Festival to his hometown of Compton

Kendrick Lamar was clearly impressed with the crowd at Reading this weekend, comparing the Festival to his hometown of Compton.

The rapper performed on the main stage before headliners The Libertines, playing the likes of 'King Kunta', 'Money Trees' and 'Alright' to a huge audience.

After running through his hit single 'i', Lamar said (via NME): "One thing I love about being out here, it kinda reminds me of Compton."

Lamar then described the crowd as "some of the most live, live, live individuals", before declaring his love for them and promising he'd be back.

Lamar's hometown is currently in the spotlight thanks to NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton, which has held its place at the top of the US box office.

Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar's 'Bad Blood' won Video of the Year at the MTV VMAs last night.
