Claudia Schiffer's cosy cashmere collaboration for TSE
Knitwear aficionados know that you can never have too much cashmere, and that the quest for the ultimate grey jumper is never quite won.
However, this winter Claudia Schiffer, the supermodel and queen of school-run chic, has teamed up with the cashmere giant TSE to create a brand-new capsule collection that seeks to offer endless cosy solutions.
Neatly, her inspiration for the line is something we can all take credit for: she describes her collection as 'timeless, effortless clothes for everyday casual chic living, inspired by influences from my life in England. I love the unpredicatable, ever-changing weather.Cosy days in front of the fire are some of my favourite moments.’
This is Schiffer’s second foray into design. Having launched a (now defunct) knitwear line in 2011, being warm and stylish is clearly something she is passionate about. 'As a teenager I was always borrowing my parents’ cashmere sweaters – I have one from my father that still looks new – but later on I couldn’t find great casual cashmere tops to wear every day,’ she says.
Schiffer explains that the collection is 'steeped in the traditions, scents and colours of my home in the countryside, and inspired by the pebble beaches, beautiful sunsets and Fair Isle sweaters worn by local fishermen and shepherds.’
The line boasts the softest and most hard-wearing of cashmeres, using traditional hand-knitted techniques, and with its intarsia patterns and Aran knits takes its lead from Schiffer’s favourite sartorial decade, the 1970s, which conveniently throngs throughout this autumn/winter’s trends. Pair one of her jumpers with denim flares (try J Brand, Frame or MiH) and, really, there’s no excuse for looking flat in a frost.
