It’s been 25 years since Peter Lindbergh created one of the most iconic British Vogue covers to date; a new breed of models – soon dubbed the supermodels – smouldered in black and white in front of a Manhattan sky scape.
A baby-faced Naomi Campbell, then aged 20, alongside Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz, Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford ushered in a new year, a new decade and a new model movement. Those names went on to become household ones, accruing huge wealth and celebrity along the way.
So it’s with open arms that we welcome the news that Mr Lindbergh is staging some sort of reunion. The photography wizard is teasing us with a shoot that unites Cindy, Helena and Eva, and former ‘colleague’ Nadja Auermann.
Behind-the-scenes images posted by the photographer and Crawford point to the quintessential makings of a Lindbergh image: minimalist make-up, simple clothes and just a black and white colour scheme.
The nature of the reunion is set to be revealed soon. Stay tuned.
