Baywatch cast: Then and now, the surprising careers of the body-beautiful... and damned
The one and only Baywatch is getting a movie reboot, with pec-tastic pair Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron on board.
Launching in 1989, the original TV series came to an end in May 2001 after an impressive run of more than a decade.
But what happened to the original stars of the hit show, and where are they now? With drug arrests, rehab, criminal charges, bankruptcy and bit parts in film flops, the body-beautiful TV lifeguards' careers were anything but plain sailing.
David Hasselhoff (Mitch Buchannon)
Having starred as main man Mitch, The Hoff led by example with his post-Baywatchcareer. He charted at number three in the UK singles chart, co-starred in Adam Sandler movie Click and had cameo roles in The Spongebob Squarepants Movie,Dodgeball and EuroTrip. He also secured a spot as a judge on America's Got Talent, filled in for Simon Cowell for one series of the British version, and launched his own show Hoff the Record on UK channel Dave.
That said, he also appeared in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! - which was the movie equivalent of shovelling all that lovely Baywatch sand into your own eyes for a solid hour and a half.
Pamela Anderson (CJ Parker)
Baywatch's original blonde bombshell Pam Anderson adorned bedroom walls worldwide as torpedo-chested bikini babe CJ Parker. After leaving, Anderson got married four times to three different men, producing two children and an internet-breaking sex tape with her equally well-endowed rocker hubby Tommy Lee.
Career-wise, the former Playboy centerfold appeared in Barb Wire, Borat, Blonde and Blonder and Superhero Movie. She also appeared briefly in the eighth (civilian) series of Big Brother in the UK. Now 48 years old, the actress can be saluted for campaigning against animal cruelty for Peta.
Carmen Electra (Lani McKenzie)
As flirty blonde Lani McKenzie, Carmen Electra brought scandal to the hit beach series - and not a lot has changed since. Her acting credentials include small roles inStarsky & Hutch, Scary Movie and Cheaper by the Dozen 2.
Electra appeared briefly as a judge on Britain's Got Talent, after rumours circulated that she was dating head judge Simon Cowell. In 2008, she published her own book/instruction manual How to be Sexy... because it's a thing you can learn apparently?
Traci Bingham (Jordan Tate)
Since donning that iconic red swimsuit, Bingham's career has struggled to take off. She appeared in 2006's Celebrity Big Brother alongside Maggot from Goldie Lookin Chain and Pete Burns, eventually making the final six.
Acting-wise, Bingham has kept a relatively low profile, starring in TV series The Dream Team ("One male secret agent and three female crimefighters masquerade as high-fashion models to battle international villains," according to IMDb - amazing),Reno 911 and Bo! in the USA.
Yasmine Bleeth (Caroline Holden)
Named one of People's Hottest Women in the World during her role as Caroline Holden, Bleeth's life post-Baywatch has sadly been anything but glamorous.
Reportedly kicked off the show for using drugs, Bleeth checked herself into rehab in 1997 - but was later arrested for driving while high on cocaine. The troubled starlet then went AWOL until she resurfaced in a 2010 Got Milk? ad.
Jeremy Jackson (Hobie Buchannon)
After reportedly beating Leonardo DiCaprio to the role of Hobie Buchannon (aka Hoff's son), Jackson jumped on the troubled child star bandwagon and left the show after suffering from severe drug addiction.
In January, Jackson was kicked out of Celebrity Big Brother for allegedly groping glamour model Chloe Goodman and was later cautioned by police.
More recently, the 31-year-old was arrested for allegedly stabbing a man he was trying to steal from in Los Angeles. Yikes.
Erika Eleniak (Shauni McClain)
Since her more successful roles in ET and Baywatch, Eleniak has struggled to make a name for herself on both the big and small screen.
The actress has publicly acknowledged suffering from eating disorders, and besides minor roles in Snowbound and Desperate Housewives, has only really starred in a couple of reality TV series, competing on Gilligan's Island in 2005 and then Celebrity Fit Club in 2006.
Billy Warlock (Eddie Kramer)
Since starring as renegade hunk Eddie Kramer on California's hottest beach, the man with the coolest name in Hollywood has had a reasonably successful career across the soap opera stratosphere.
Warlock enjoyed recurring roles in Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. He also guest starred in the critically-acclaimed Glenn Close thriller Damages... as Undercover Customer #2.
Nicole Eggert (Summer Quinn)
Post-Baywatch, Eggert appeared on E!'s Botched and filed for bankruptcy in 2013.
She came second on the US version of Splash and has run her own ice cream truck - aka living the dream.
Alexandra Paul (Stephanie Holden)
Besides starring in the odd Mad Men episode, nowadays Paul is a competitive endurance athlete by day and a political activist by night, being arrested for civil disobedience several times.
The star's identical twin sister (who is a firefighter) recently published a Kindle Single about her life as a 'celebrity' doppelganger called Almost Her: The Strange Dilemma of Being Nearly Famous.
David Charvet (Matt Brody)
After wrapping his seasons at the beach, Charvet moved on to become a season regular in the equally hot (in every sense) location of Melrose Place.
Since quitting acting to launch a bilingual music career, Charvet has scored a number three hit in the French music chart, and has even dueted with the likes of Bryan Adams and Seal.
Gena Lee Nolin (Neely Capshaw)
Nolin has kept an almost nonexistent profile since her time watching over the bay.
The actress starred in low-budget movies The Underground Comedy Movie and The Flunk, but was diagnosed with a thyroid condition and now campaigns for regular thyroid gland checks and blood tests.
Oh - and she's also married to former NHL player Cale Hulse. Nope, us neither.
