Sparkly shoes and breadcycles: 14 things we loved on The Great British Bake Off this week
The Great British Bake Off had a great episode last night. We never knew bread could be so much fun, but what with astonishing lions, dropped rolls and, of course,Nadiya's facial expressions, it was all going on. We had so much fun that we had to share 14 of our favourite bits from last night's show...
1. Mary's pure and unadulterated joy at Tamal's use of the phrase "breadcycle".
I mean, it's not even a pun.
2. Mat's actual pun.
"There's dough everywhere. DOUGHVERLOAD."
3. Mary's face when Dorret said she hadn't made her showstopper before.
A look that would freeze even Iain's baked Alaska.
4. Paul's face when Ugne revealed she was making brioche bunnies with maple syrup and crispy bacon.
A man who has seen too much.
5. Mat diving for his dropped bread rolls.
But especially the little twirl-and-flourish he nailed when he stood back up.
6. Mary bringing the best innuendo of the night.
"They look so tempting I can hardly keep my hands off them." And there was more: "I told you it looked terribly tempting and I couldn't wait to get into it. Now I'm into it, I want more."
7. Paul shaking hands with Paul.
Soda bread respect.
8. "I am pinching my bottom seam."
Good to know, Flora.
9. Mel and Sandy's awkward congratulatory fistbump.
Adorable.
10. Nadiya's terrible baguettes.
"I feel very sorry for whoever it is," said a horrified Mary, as Paul prodded the squashy dough.
11. Sandy not being at all impressed by her baguettes getting criticised.
Taking no nonsense.
12. Flora's technical challenge trauma.
"Paul Hollywood was punching bread and shattering dreams."
13. Alvin needing Mel & Sue to help him deliver his showstopper.
"Vehicle reversing!"
14. Paul's lion.
Just incredible. How did this not immediately win Paul 'Star Baker'? We're getting on the phone to Ofcom right now...
