Strictly Come Dancing 2015 winner: We rank the celebrities' chances of topping BBC One's dance-off
Strictly Come Dancing is drawing ever closer, and we're now finding out one by one which celebrities are taking part this year.
Of course, we have no idea how they'll do on the show, we've not seen them dance one step and we don't know which professional dancers they'll be paired with. But as if that's going to stop us from making snap judgements.
So read on to find out how we ranked the celebs (from least likely to win to most likely to win) - and keep checking back as more famous faces are announced to see how our rankings change...
15. Jeremy Vine
Sorry Jeremy - but even the bookies agree with us that you're going to struggle. Jeremy was the first celeb announced for this year's Strictly, and the oddsmakers promptly announced that he had no chance of winning even though they had no idea who he was up against. Jeremy could always end up surprising us. (We don't think he will.)
14. Carol Kirkwood
Look, we love Carol Kirkwood. Her joyous reporting of the weather brightens up even the gloomiest of mornings. She's a constant ray of sunshine in a world of clouds. The only thing is, we're not sure how good she'll actually be at the dancing thing. She has that goofy air about her - but even if she's terrible, she will at least be enjoyably terrible. And you know that she'll try harder than anyone.
13. Daniel O'Donnell
DANIEL O'DONNELL. We can't quite believe the Irish legend has signed up for the show, but on the other hand it makes perfect sense. We're not sure how well he'll do, though, based on the below (incredible) Vine. He's got the bum wiggle down, but we're not convinced his posture will win over the judges. On the other hand, he's got a massive fanbase who could keep him in long enough for him to really get going.
12. Jay McGuiness
We're prepared to be proved wrong, but we certainly remain to be convinced by Jay's moves on the dance floor. The Wanted were never really a band that focused on the choreography, were they? We just have a bit of a niggle that this isn't exactly going to be Jay's forte. Of course, this is based on pretty much nothing, so maybe he'll turn out to be a waltz whiz. Anyway, we weren't sure so we had a quick Google and came up with... this.
11. Iwan Thomas
This is one of those ones where we just have a 'feeling'. Iwan could turn out to be a smooth mover, but even though he's an athlete, we're wondering if his running past will actually make him stiff rather than give him the flexibility he needs to do well in the ballroom. It very much remains to be seen, but we're sceptical about his chances for the moment.
10. Ainsley Harriott
It remains to be seen, but we think Ainsley could be quite proficient on the dance floor. He's certainly an exuberant chap who should have no problem with the performance side of things - but has he got the rhythm to match? If his shimmy on this Vine is anything to go by, very possibly.
9. Jamelia
Jamelia has been rumoured for a while, and to be honest we kind of thought she'd be one to beat. But then when she was announced, she revealed that her kids had actually laughed at her for taking part because they know she's such an awful dancer.
Obviously we have to reflect this in our ranking, but we wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be Jamelia playing down her chances when she's actually a brilliant mover and shaker. Is it all an elaborate bluff?
8. Anita Rani
We have absolutely no idea how well Anita can dance, to be honest. But something about her just makes us think she might sneakily be quite good. A possible underdog who could blossom and triumph. (And also she said after being announced that she would think of "#BeyonceAlwaysOnBeat" while she was dancing, which has basically just won us over.)
7. Katie Derham
Katie is a bit of an unknown quantity to us, so it seems fair to put her solidly mid-table. But she must have musicality given that she hosts the BBC Proms and a show on Radio 3, so maybe she'll actually have a bit of an advantage. (Didn't work for fellow DJ Scott Mills, but you never know.)
6. Kellie Bright
Danny Dyer has tweeted that Kellie will be the "mutts' nuts", and who are we to disagree with Danny Dyer? More seriously, if Kellie can channel her EastEnderscharacter Linda Carter - a woman never far from a sequin - then we think she could do very well. Add to that the fact that she's proven she can master choreography thanks to Grease-Enders, and she's definitely one to watch.
5. Georgia May Foote
Georgia May Foote looks like a potential winner to us. She's bringing the Corriefanbase with her, after all - and given that she's left the soap, she'll be able to devote all her time to training (unlike Kellie, who'll be filming while training - a nightmare). Plus, she's said that she loves dancing - alright, so that might mean a boogie down the local rather than a waltz in a ballroom, but any natural rhythm is a bonus. Hell, even her name is Foote. Nominative determinism goes a long way.
4. Kirsty Gallacher
Kirsty Gallacher might be a terrible dancer, but something tells us that she's going to be pretty good. She's not actually an athlete herself - she's a Sky Sports News presenter - but she explained that fitness has always been a big part of her life so she's got an advantage in that she'll be in good shape. As soon as she was rumoured, we thought Kirsty was probably a contender. She could, of course, prove us completely and utterly wrong.
3. Peter Andre
The power of Peter Andre is hard to deny. Anyone who has watched the video for 'Mysterious Girl' - aka anyone with a pulse - will know that he has got some serious moves, especially when it comes to rolling pecs. Sure, Peter's a bit older these days but that's not the sort of talent that you lose. And, of course, he's a very likeable guy - he won us over on I'm a Celeb and his various reality shows by coming across as sweet and down to earth. We reckon he's got a real shot at this.
2. Helen George
Helen might be best known for her role in Call The Midwife but she actually trained in musical theatre at the Royal Academy of Music. So she must have a) a sense of rhythm and b) at least some dance experience. Right? Maybe she won't be able to transfer that to the ballroom, but at the moment we think she's looking pretty good. Plus, the Call The Midwife fanbase is huge...
1. Anthony Ogogo
We're not entirely sure why, but we have a good feeling about Anthony Ogogo and think he's going to do well. Perhaps it's because he's an Olympic boxer, and presumably light on his feet (and also dedicated, competitive and willing to work hard). Maybe it's because he's a reality TV veteran, having previously appeared onBig Brother: Celebrity Hijack and Splash!. There's just something about Anthony that is making us think he could end up going far.
Strictly Come Dancing kicks off later this year on BBC One. Which of the celebrities do you think has the best chance of winning? Let us know below!
